Festiwal Filmów Krótkometrażowych w Oberhausen jest czymś więcej niż tylko zbieraniną aktualnie powstających krótkich produkcji - starannie dobrany program to jeden ze znaków rozpoznawczych tego festiwalu. Pojedyncze dzieła są zestawione w taki sposób, aby mogły wzajemnie na siebie oddziaływać i współgrać ze sobą, co ma doprowadzić widza do nowego sposobu przeżywania medium filmu i wideo.

And this time once again “Oberhausen on Tour“ will present the most interesting current works featured at the last two festivals, arranged into four programmes. In association with the partner venue, BWA Zielona Góra, the Oberhausen selection gives viewers an opportunity to discover all the variety offered by today’s short film scene.

Ostatnie mody pokazują, że formy dokumentalne występują ciągle pomiędzy najsilniejszymi gatunkami niemieckich filmów krótkometrażowych. "Cosmic Station" prowadzi nas do Armenii, gdzie znajdziemy szczątki tego, co kiedyś było ambitnym, radzieckim planem: odkrycie nowych galaktyk na przestrzeni 3500 m. Eva Koenemann pracuje w zamkniętej przestrzeni. Doświadczamy wyczerpujących prób prowadzonych przez gwiazdorskiego reżysera Laurenta Chetouane'a z aktorem Fabianem Hinrichsem. Pomiędzy tymi dwiema pracami, Effie Wu - "Super Smile" zahipnotyzuje nas, podróż przez romantyczne, niemieckie lasy, a na końcu uwolnienie motyli w bawarskich Alpach z Cyrill Lachauer: wild performance.

We can conclude from recent trends that the documentary form is once again amongst the strongest genres in German short film production. “Cosmic Station” takes us to Armenia, where we encounter the remains of what was once an ambitious Soviet project. Moscow has long since run out of funds, however, and thus the Armenian researchers continue their work at 3,500 metres, in what looks like a space capsule, under absurd conditions, yet still hoping to discover new galaxies. Eva Könnemann by contrast works in a claustrophobically close space. We witness rehearsals conducted by star director Laurent Chetouane with actor Fabian Hinrichs. When Hinrichs refuses to play his role as desired, the dramatization seems doomed to fail. “Die Tragödien aus der Stadt” (“The Tragedies of the City”) was selected as best entry in the German Competition in 2008. In between these two works, we are mesmerized by the smile of Effie Wu, we journey through romantic German forestland, and then finally liberate butterflies in the Bavarian Alps with Cyrill Lachauer: a wild performance.

Ta selekcja zawiera parę najbardziej ciekawych prac z ostatnich dwóch konkursów międzynarodowych. Irlandzki film animowany o antycznej legendzie poprzedza film mówiący o codziennym życiu autochtonicznych Brazylijczyków. "Kempinski" Neila Beloufy opowiada o mieszkańcach tajemniczej krainy z przyszłości. Przeszłość jest natomiast w centrum zainteresowania nagrodzonego "Parlez-moi d'amour" (Mów mi o miłości), w którym dwie starsze kobiety mówią o miłości. "A Journey Across Grandmother" (Podróż przez babcię) rozwija temat więzi łączącej dziewczynę ze swoją babcią. Natomiast Corinna Faith portretuje człowieka pomagającego innym, który zdaje sobie sprawę z tego, że jego pomoc nie zawsze oczekiwana.

This line-up features some of the most interesting, in some cases award-winning, works from the last two International Competitions. Stories from the past, present and future are told, and relationships compellingly portrayed. The Irish animated film about an ancient legend, “An Cailleach Bhéarra”, is followed by “Ägtux”, which looks at the everyday lives of Brazil’s indigenous peoples, revealing their under-appreciated cultural wealth. Neil Beloufa’s “Kempinski” tells of how the denizens of a mystical land envision the future. The past is then the focus in the award-winning “Parlez-moi d’amour”, in which Alexia Bontia films two old women talking about love. Love and affection are also the emotions evoked by a girl’s relationship with her grandmother in “A Journey Across Grandmother”. “Care” portrays a caregiver working for a nursing service who comes to realize that his help is not always wanted.

Ta kompilacja gromadzi siedem prac pochodzących z różnych krajów, pomiędzy światem filmu i sztuki. W "Shock of Time" artista Sun Xun pokazuje za pomocą krótkiej animacji historię Chin, podczas gdy "Mary Koszmary" dokumentuje przesiedlonych polskich Żydów, którzy obecnie odbierają wezwanie do powrotu do Polski. "Reflections" jest obrazem doświadczenia przez dzieci lustrzanego odbicia jako rzeczywistości, którą już znamy. "Outwardly from Earth's Center" relacjonuje spokojny los wyspy, która nieuchronnie dryfuje w głąb morza. Filmy z tego programu, zarówno indywiualne, jak i grupowe dostarczają ostrego wglądu w aktualną sytuację produkcji mediów artystycznych.

This compilation brings together seven international works caught up in the push and pull between the worlds of film and art. In “Shock of Time” artist Sun Xun animates the history of China, while Yael Bartana shows how displaced Polish Jews are summoned back to Poland in “Mary Koszmary”. In Tzu-Nyen Ho’s video “Reflections” children tellingly convey how mirrors only show us what we already know. “Outwardly from Earth’s Center” recounts with serene imagery the fate of an island that is inexorably drifting further and further out to sea. The films in this programme, both individually and as a group, provide incisive insights into the current state of media art production.

W 2008 roku Nagroda MuVi za najlepszy niemiecki muzyczne wideo obchodziła swoją dziesiątą rocznicę. Pierwsze lata pokazywały zwykle produkcje na zlecenia, a obecnie jest wideoklipy muzyczne wykształciły swoją własną pozycję jako gatunek artystyczny, oddzielając się w końcu od telewizji muzycznej. Szesnaście tytułów z ostatnich dwóch edycji potwierdza autonomiczny zachwyt w eksperymentowaniu i bystre poczucie humoru. Muzyczne wideo ciągle oferuje pole do popisu dla całej różnorodności technik wizualnych, które ich autorzy zręcznie wykorzystują dając opór popkulturowym mitom, stapiając muzykę i obraz w jedną gęstą substancję.

In 2008 the MuVi Award for the best German music video celebrated its tenth anniversary. The music video, in its early years often a classic contract production, has long since become its own artistic genre, cutting its ties with music television. Sixteen titles from the last two competitions attest to an autonomous delight in experimentation and an astute sense of humour. The music video still offers a playing field for a diverse range of visual techniques, with filmmakers shrewdly availing themselves of the pertinent pop-cultural myths and then melding imagery and music to create a universe of extraordinary atmospheric density.
